Ed,
I didn't mean that the citalopram would affect your pulse rate. I just meant that it might be sedating you enough (for want of a better way to describe it) so that you're not as aware of the physical manifestations of the increased heartrate. That's how it worked for me when I was on a sedating tricyclic along with the desipramine. It was much more comfortable and the tachycardia felt less noticeable.

That doesn't seem to be the case for you, however, if you've been on lofepramine without the citalopram and couldn't tell the difference.
