My Noradrenergic Experiences

Posted by blanding on December 22, 2004, at 19:48:38

I've tried reboxetine, desipramine, modafinil (noradrenergics) and mirtazapine (has noradrenergic and specific serotonergic effects).

With desipramine I came close to experiencing some form of psychosis after only 5 days, then discontinued the drug. Reboxetine at 2 mg/d produced less problematic side effects, with no benefits, so I ceased taking it also.
Right now I am taking 100 mg modafinil every other day, feeling less uncomfortable 'arousal' than with reboxetine and having an inhibition to use it daily perhaps because I would then continuously experience a similar 'noradrenergic arousal' as with reboxetine.
Mirtazapine produced mixed results: On the one hand sedation, on the other hand unable to sleep well and long enough to wake up fresh. Once again I noticed the typical (for me) sensation of an uneasy noradrenergic arousal.
