In reply to ANYONE USE NEUROTIN??, posted by hockeygirlcanada on December 16, 2004, at 14:01:06
> Hi,
> I am being put on a low dose of neurotin for generalized anxiety, any suggestions or success stories, etc.. would be greatly appreciated!!I take 900 mg 3x daily (2700) along with a set of other medicines (polypharmacy) for an anxiety disorder that would take quite a while to explain (anxiety induced visual phenomenon). But back to the Neurontin. When I first started taking Neurontin it made me loopy and my speech was noticeably slurred. This tapered off after several months.
Now as for what it does in my treatment plan (the dosage has been raised up and down at various times)... my doctor may believe one thing or another, but my general feeling is alone, it does not do alot for me, but I feel with my non-4 year medical degree [insert humour] that it augments the high dosage klonopin I am taking at the same time.
As for any worries about the drug... more than around the 900mg at a time or so, your body, well, takes care of it down the drain. Exponentially. So you can't really get sick on the medication, it just goes away with the $. Well actually with the reduced $ because its generic, or you should be receiving generic Gabapentin at this point.
So, as far as by itself.. its worth trying out for a few months or a month or so... if it doesnt provide any relief and you're not combining drugs, then perhaps its time to try something else. I think its a medication that works well for a smaller percent of the population, like most antiseizure drugs used off label.
Holiday cheers.
