Its not unusual. I've been off efexor for about a week and the dreams are dying down now. When I ramped down (and up in fact) my dose, I always seemed to get a lot of REM rebound... not always nightmares but not entirely nice dreams.

I don't know about the head throbbing thing, I didn't experience that.
