In reply to Prozac Tremor? B blocker?, posted by JayDee on December 6, 2004, at 23:46:45
> I think Prozac is making me tremor more. Ive always had kinda poor fine motor skills, and horrid shaking in SP situations(so bad i cannot pick somthing up or use my left hand at all basically) but today I messed up on my Cal. I Final because of my hands shaking, writing was so difficult, I would have finished the test if it wasn't for it. unmedicated ADHD didnt help either :)

> -Does Prozac cause tremor/akathsia(related) more then other SSRI's?In my case, yes. I've tried Prozac, Paxil, Luvox, Zoloft and then (SNRI) Effexor. The only one that gave me tremor problems was Prozac. It was also the only one that gave me a significant antidepressant effect (although that only lasted a month).
> -With my muscle tension, tremor I might ask for a B blocker Corgard(nadolol) Inderal(propranol) or Clonidine. Which is better for anxiety/tremor, cognitive side effects??I've only tried Inderal (but not with the Prozac). I probably should have tried it with Prozac.
> So far Prozac has helped with energy, thought, depression, and a little with SA. It's only been about 18 days since I started (4 days on 40mg). This is why I am afraid of switching to another SSRI just because of tremor. Would I be taking a chance by doing this?
> I can't help but think the tremors are Parkinson related, (low dpamine), do B blockers help if this is the case?I don't think that all low dopamine states are Parkinsons related. Doesn't it have to do with which receptor is involved? (Parkinsons is D1 I think) Also, location in the brain matters too. I've read here that beta blockers help but I don't really know much about it.
