Dextromethorphan is for coughs. It should not be taken within 2 weeks of taking an MAOI antidepressant. It can be taken with an SSRI if the doses of the 2 drugs are not too high. Otherwise it can potentially cause serotonin syndrome.
A lot of cold medicines use an antihistamine for runny nose and pseudoephedrine HCL for nasal stuffiness. I'm not aware of any problem taking those 2 drugs with an SSRI or Wellbutrin. I have done so many times.
> In October I had a cold and a doctor prescribed dextromethorphan for me. I found out that this med shouldn't be taken with SSRIs. What can I take for a stuffy head, runny nose and congestion that won't interfere with Celexa and Wellbutrin?
