Celexa for reducing EffexorXR W/D symptoms?

Posted by HappinessPie on December 7, 2004, at 0:32:19

Does anyone know if Celexa is effective for EffexorXR withdrawal symptoms? I know that Prozac is often used due to its long half-life, but I am on day two of 0 mg after about a month of ramping down from 150, and I have started to get "brain shivers" which I find very annoying and disturbing. I have had some other symptoms (nausea, which I treated with an anti-nausea medication; insomnia, which I have been enduring and/or taking diphenhydramine for; emotional rollercoaster, for which I've been doing deep breathing... :) ) but this is by far the worst.

Does anyone know where Celexa falls in terms of half-life? If this continues or worsens, I will certainly consult my psychiatrist, but I was hoping to get some short-term relief and I happen to have some Celexa from a previous prescription around.

Also, how effective are benzodiazepenes in alleviating WD symptoms? I know they would help with insomnia and anxiety, but what about the tinnitis/shivers/zaps? I have a couple of Klonapin and Valium, and I will save them in case I am really in an ėmergency panic/anxiety mode, but if they helped with the shivers I might be less conservative...

Any insight or advice along these lines is appreciated!

Oh, also, what about 5-HTP for boosting serotonin? Anyone had success with that?

Thanks...!
