I have the same reaction...although theoratically valium can have a half life of 200hours, I found that its desired effect does not last more than 4-6 hours,and that a short potent benzo like lorazepam which is theoratically have a half life of 10-15 hours,has a much more robust sustained effect that lasts for 12 hours .
