> Just got back from the Pdoc with Strattera samples. I'm flipping through the booklet as I usually do and notice that it only lasts five hours or so. This seems kinda strange because I was only Rx'd one pill a day in the mornings. There is no sign of anything about time release on the bottles either. Does all Strattera come as a time release or the Dr. screw up? Being sane just until after lunchtime doesn't sound too appealing :-)
All Stratterra dosages are an immediate release formulation. The active metabolite has a half-life a little longer at about 9 hrs (if memory serves me right). When I'm taking it, it definitely seems to have a "working" time of about 8 hrs (a day at work or school, ie.) You might ask your doctor about taking two dosages (first thing am, then 8 hrs. later). This med would be a good candidate for an enteric coated extended release formulation, IMO. It can be a little harsh on your stomach.
