If you feel that you are really suffering from a depressive illness then take an online quiz, and go to a doctor.
However, there is one thing to cautiously note.
Although it is good that your mother is feeling better, hypomania is not something that you want to strive for. There are some clear dangers to it. Poor judgement, induction of cycling, exasperation of underlying illness etc.I was hypomanic for 2 years which I stricktly blame for my current severe depression. If I had treated the hypomania, I strongly believe the depression would not have been as profound.
If neurons are firing excessivly and randomly (often in hypomania) they can litterally dammage themselves, and the surrounding neuronal circutry (glutamate toxicity).Aim for yourself to feel well (if you are not). But don't strive for something that is risky, and unsustainable.
Sustainable harmony is only found with ballence.
