> Hi,I am a 28 year old female who took Paxil for five years. The med worked great except it totally killed my sex drive. I called my doc and he switched me to Wellbutrin. It worked great,in fact it increased my sexual desire greatly. After taking it for two weeks I broke out in hives all over my body, I went to my doctor and of course I was allergic to it. I am now taking Effexor and getting the same results I did with Paxil. I am devestated that I can't take the Wellbutrin because of how well it worked for me. I was taking the generic form and I guess my question to everyone is has anyone heard of anyone that was allergic to generic Wellbutrin and not the actual brand. I really need some info and thanks in advance.
I had an allergic reaction to Wellbutrin and broke out in a rash all over my body. Before giving up on Wellbutrin, my doctor switched me to a different formulation on the hunch that it might be the inactive ingredients in the pills that was the source of the problem, and he was right. No more rash. However, I also know that he would not have let me continue with the med if the allergy had continued. He said it was too dangerous. I'm taking Wellbutrin currently with no side effects at present.
I can't remember what I switched from and to, but I think the problem emerged when I switched to the the SR formula from the original formula. I'd have to go back and research notes to know for sure. In any case, I do believe its worth trying the other formulas before giving up on it.
