Hi Dove.
What exactly are you looking to discover?
Sometimes, it is more fruitful to think of the events occurring in the brain as being facilitated by circuits rather than pools of neurotransmitters.
Hypocretin is increased by modafinil in the hypothalamus. This results in the activation of circuits responsible for arousal and wakefulness. Some of these circuits use dopamine as a neurotransmitter, others use norepinephrine, and others use histamine. I believe one of the major ciruits affected is the reticular formation. These areas are different than those thought to be involved with depression, even though they employ the same neurotransmitters. There is some overlap, however. I would have to read the article more thoroughly and do some additional research to be able to comment more intelligently.
I know I didn't answer your question, but I'm really not sure what it is.
Thank you very much for posting this.
