In reply to Xanax XR - Any experiences ?, posted by Kristel on October 26, 2004, at 13:41:48
I'm not a Xanax XR expert, but my pdoc gave me a 30 pill 2 mg. script for it. To begin with, it was very costly, but if it worked well I figured it would be worth it. I took one pill Saturday morning and waited for "something to happen" and an hour or so later I fell sound asleep even though I didn't feel at all tired when I took it. I woke up several hours later feeling rested, but not sedated. An hour or so later I started feeling anxious so I took some Neurontin, which helped me make it through the day. Around 5:30 p.m. Xanax XR had completely worn off and I was going out for the evening, so luckily my pdoc had given me a script for some Klonopin, which I filled at the same time I filled the Xanax XR. I took .5 of it and I made it through the evening just fine. I took regular Xanax for many years, but I wasn't impressed with Xanax XR, and haven't taken anymore of it. Seemed it worked all at once and after that it was gone. Maybe I metabolize sustained released drugs faster than other people do. Anyway, I'm now taking 1 mg. of Klonopin in the AM and 1 mg. in the PM and so far that's working great.
Oh, for what it's worth, my pdoc said that a 1 mg. pill of Xanax XR is equal to about 1.5 mg. of regular Xanax. That may be fact or just his opinion.

> Hello. I am just wondering if say taking one 3mg Xanax XR pill on the morning would be similar to getting the effect of 1mg immedite-release xanax pill all day long ?!!
