I am specifically looking for women. Intuititively, I know it must shorten it but was wondering if there was any literature out there. All I can find is the incidience of major depression in the elderly.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I think life expectancy is reduced by about seven years. That's one of those statistical factor-analysis studies, where they mathematically adjust for other variables, and they were left with a seven year reduction due to recurrent major depression.
