I didn't have all that much problem with Cymbalta in this regard, but have with other drugs. Here's a bit to help you:
First of all, Cymbalta actually caused me diarrhea at first! Then the doctor said to take it AFTER eating, rather than before as I had been doing. I was constipated at first, when I took it after eating breakfast, so I switched to eating my egg first, then taking the Cymbalta, and then eating the rest of my breakfast. That seemed to help a bit.
Drinking lots of water helps with constipation, as does aerobic exercise of any sort. Metamucil has benefits apart from the one we generally take it for, so don't stop that. Do add more water, and if you have trouble drinking plain water, try adding a bit of lemon juice. Walking a lot helps, as can jogging.
All the bowel troubles of my first few weeks of Cymbalta have now passed, by the way. Now it's all pretty much hunky dory in my digestive tract. While it's a pain in the gut while it lasts, give it a few more weeks before you tear out your hair. I've been on Cymbalta since late August now, and it's finally passed. (Now let's hope the gas part passes, too, instead of just passing gas all day, huh? That's my problem with this stuff!)
