In reply to PSYCHOTIC DEPRESSION - what other meds can I try?, posted by pretty_paints on October 15, 2004, at 7:40:44
Hey there,
this is a pretty cool site that breifly goes over most psychiatric meds. Take what they say with a grain of salt though.Basically there are, like, six new atypical antipsychotics that have a much better side-effect profile than the older antipsychotics. They are Risperdal, Zyprexa, Clozaril, Geodon, Seroquel and Abilify.
If tremors are a problem you might try Inderal (propranolol). Its a beta-blocker that's good for counteracting physical anxiety and side effects like that. I used it when first starting Wellbutrin.
I was also diagnosed as MD with psychotic features. But now they say I'm BP with psychotic features. Same difference to me, I still have hallucinations. Abilify was the most effective for me but I did have some problems with side effects.
Good luck!
