I had EXACTLY the same experience you describe when starting on Lexapro about 10 months ago.
About 5 hours after taking it, I would feel WIERD for about 2-3 hours. Very disconcerting, at first.
My pdoc gave me some Ativan to take the edge off, which helped. After about a week, I didn't have those spacey feelings anymore. If that had continued, I'm sure I would have tried something other than Lexapro.
If you are struggling to get to 10mg/day after this long, maybe you should consider a different med. I've had a pretty positive experience with Lex, maybe I'm lucky.
