After I posted that I started wondering if there was more to it than the lethargy and the appetite. I mean, those would do it but I wonder if there is also some metabolic change, like a slowing down of the metabolism due to biochemical influences of the drug? I'm having a ridiculous time getting weight off. I have only been seriously trying for about a month but I've only lost like 2 pounds and with the diet I'm on you're supposed to lose a couple pounds a week. I have cut way back on carbs which seem to be my downfall while still eating well (lots of protein) and exercising. It's kind of discouraging. It's easier to stay on a diet when you see results.
As for me, I'm staying on Trileptal for now because I have tried several others and there aren't many options left. It doesn't make me nearly as tired as the Depakote did. That wiped me out! I was sleeping nine to ten hours a night plus taking one or two hour naps during the day. I think it also exacerbated my depression. I was depressed in the spring which is usually more of a manic time for me. I just wish I could find a balance of meds that works and just go about my business like a normal person.
