In reply to Anyone on Trileptal?, posted by JennCat on September 27, 2004, at 6:02:48
My hubby was just given an Rx for it this afternoon. He was also simultaneously diagnosed as bipolar and probably ADHD. He will be starting Wellbutrin tomorrow morning along with Effexor so I want him to wait on the Trileptal so that if anything goes wrong we'll have some idea which drug is causing it.
I don't care much for his p-doc. This was his first visit to this particular one. I've read about trileptal online and it's supposed to be one of the easier mood stabilizer but also causes unsteadiness. He's already unsteady on his feet due to stroke. I'm also concerned about escalating his angry agitated behavior. These docs don't live with him and I do.
I'd really, REALLY like to hear from other folks who are on trileptal and especially those taking antidepressants too. Is it possible to ever get off the antidepressant? (in this case Effexor). The costs of these drugs, even with insurance, is impossible. I can't believe all this med plus 3 blood pressure meds and thyroid and allergy meds are such a good idea.

I was told it was for panic disorder, if that's true, it hasn't helped at all. I just started taking Klonopin a month ago because my anxiety and panics have skyrocketed. Why would my dr. keep me on Trileptal? Does anyone have any info? I would really appreciate it.
