During the past 2 months I have experienced extreme anxiety due to a very stressful occasion which has come and gone, but has triggered extreme body shaking along with flashbacks/memories more than usual - usual being leg or hand twitching/twitching with nervousness.
4 weeks ago my parnate was increased from 1 - 10 mg a day to 2 every other day and 1 on alternate days. I am not able to tolerate more than this because of muscle pain and racing thoughts, insomnia and feeling the meds build up in my body (this happens with many meds that have been tried. Parnate seems to be the one I feel best on in moderate doses. I also take 3 to 5 .25 mg xanax per day depending on anxiety levels. 2 weeks ago, my whole body started shaking (like an attack) without warning which lasted approximately 1 minute. This happened in my therapists office. She indicated it seemed as though there was some clonic activity. I felt it was stress related and after she disussed it with my doctor - they agreed it may be stress related. Since the attack, the parnate has been reduced back to the original 1 per day. The tremors have also returned to the milder hand and leg tremors and my thinking feels clearer.I have also had these attacks for long periods (1-2 years) during post trauma during adolescence - these were without any medication.
The next onset of attacks happened again during post trauma as an adult, also for a period of 1 -2 years. Once the trauma crisis was past, the major tremors disappeared.
The sensations before, during or after the attack (even mild shaking) are numbing to hands, back and right side of my head. My arms and legs feel very sore after a major attack. My thoughts tend to be scrambled after - difficult to complete sentences. I am aware during the attack, also remember things seeming further away then very close. These attacks have never affected my work or driving so my doctor has agreed to see if this will pass over the next short while. If not I will need to go for a CT or MRI which I've had before because of collapse with some tremors. The test came back clear.
Can you give me any insight as to what to expect? Thank you for your time.
