Depression and Infamitory illness together; HELP

Posted by iris2 on September 25, 2004, at 21:49:36

I have depression primarily, and an inflammatory disease. Namely intestinal cystitis if anyone if actually interested.

Problem is that when I take antidepressants with little exception I get what is called "flare-ups" and have extreme bladder pain and frequency/urgency. One person I interacted with had a suggestion to take Carmoxirole to correct your hyperprolactimea caused by the Amisulride. This is just one small example of what an antidepressant can cause and perhaps the first solution I have come across. He suggested working with a researcher such as one doing research on inflammatory processes. I red a great article one had written and emailed him. Not heard back yet, but how interested does anyone think I will find these people to work with me? As for that I came across this one quite accidentally when reading a paper he co wrote and happened to be working out of a University. Any ideas how to find other research personnel that might be interested in working with me?

Or if anyone has direct knowledge themselves about how to ameliorate the bladder effects of some of these antidepressants? If you are interested here is a link to the paper he co wrote. I really am at my wits end with this all.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Even if they are pointing me in another direction. You see almost every antidepressant I try to take I cannot take. Even the Amisulpride is having some affect on my bladder. It works better at 75-100mg but I cannot tolerate that much of it. I am just being able to tolerate the effects 50mg is having.

Another example is that I was given Effexor years ago. I thought as the med was beginning to take effect that I was feeling quite less anxious and somewhat less depressed. Unfortunately because of my bladder I had to stop taking it. I took it a total of six weeks. My disease has progressed. I have tried to go back on the Effexor again and am not even able to take one dosage without a lot of pain.

If anyone has any knowledge that could potentially help me with this or ideas how to find people knowledgeable and willing to help (even if I have to hire them) please let me know.

Thank you so much,

irene
