In reply to Effexor Withdrawel-not too bad! Here's the scoop!, posted by meds4life on September 22, 2004, at 1:37:24
> I have been on Effexor for over a year for severe suicidal depression. I have gained 40 pounds and even though Effexor is fabulous for me, I can't continue to gain. So, I was scared to go through the withdrawel that many of you have talked about. However, I've been going very slowly lowering doses every week. Went 150 to 75 to 37.5 and in two weeks I'll drop to 0. I also started Wellbutrin 150SR twice a day. So far I have not had any withdrawel symptons at all! However, I do still have to drop from 37.5 to 0, so we'll see what happens. If I don't have withdrawel symptoms, I can't say if it was adding the Wellbutrin or going slowly. However, some of you have gone slower than I and had terrible withdrawel symptoms.
It will be interesting to see what you experience when you go from 37.5mg to 0. I had major withdrawal symptoms starting 3 or 4 days after I tried to cold-turkey from 37.5mg to 0. (I had been taking 150mg per day for quite a while) No big deal. I simply went back to 37.5mg, and taperred to 0mg slowly over several months.
Good luck.
