dopamine neurons are one of the few that upregulate in the presence of supraphisiological levels of thier intended neurotransmitter, DA. and they do it pretty quickly.
up and downregulation, *sensitivity*, and pre and post synaptic receptors are important issues to consider.
but then, what do i know.
