How does Ambien help socially?

I was reading that post above about Ambien, and how it made him a more social person...something I am looking for. what is in it that helps, and what DOES it help to make you more social? I know that Ambien is not prescribed for social disorders (or is it?)...but what is, if anything, that works similarly?
