Effexor Withdrawl

I am taking Effexor XR 75mg/day and I am considering talking to my doc about weaning me off of it. I have read a lot of the things that some of you have wrote about the withdrawl, which I haven't really even considered, and now I am scared to death! I guess I didn't realize how serious the withdrawl would be! Also, a lot of you mention brain zaps, what is that? How do you know when you are ready to come off your medication? Any help would be really appreciated! Thank you
