Hypothyroidism and Depression

Good Day All,
I am a new memeber for posting however have been following occasionally. Recently there was some talk about hypothyroidism and depression. Can someone explain or elaborate on the link between the 2?
I have been on Synthroiod for appx. 3 yrs.(current dosage 225 mg) and Effoxor for appx. 2 yrs.(current dosage 225 mcg). Lately I have been feeling very withdrawn, cranky, sleepy, irrated easily. I don't want to increase my Effexor as eventually my goal was to eliminatethat. I have made an appt with the Endocrinologist this week to get control again and I would like to be prepared with experiences of the group prior to my visit.

Any help is appreciated.
