Hi. I definitely tried the exercise route. For the last two years or so I have gone to the gym every weekday morning for spin class. My depression would ebb and flow, but the last year or so it kept getting worse. In desperation I exercised more -- weekends, every day, even two spin classes a day. (spin is pretty intense). I finally broke down and got anti depressants. The combination of AD and exercise is pretty darn good. But I'd say I was exercising hard 4-5 hours a week with only minimal results so by itself it may not work for everybody.
It does help with side effects with Lexapro, particularly sleepiness
