In reply to Gabitril with Lamictal for Bipolar and PTSD, posted by sirena_lupin on August 22, 2004, at 21:34:50

In addition, I was given a prescription for Gabitril for anxiety, panic attacks, flashbacks, nightmares, insomnia... etc. stemming from PTSD. I read somewhere that Lamictal's effectiveness is easily compromised by other drugs. Is Gabitril one of these drugs?

For the sake of clinical clarity, I think it makes sense to wait to see how you respond to Lamictal before adding Gabitril. It will allow you to be able to better conclude how the Gabitril affects you and perhaps not blame the Lamictal for any adverse effects Gabitril might produce.
Gabitril seems to affect people in one of two ways. Some people do report anxiolytic and hypnotic (anti-insomnia) effects. However, others, like myself, experience anxiety, insomnia, and brain-fog or cognitive blunting.
