hello there, chemist here...first off, i think i can safely say that we are all glad you decided to stay with us; second, your new meds might do the trick, although you need time to let things work, so do not let yourself become bogged down in the likely event that a meds change lies in your future; third, allow me to share my experience with trileptal with you (i hope others do the same).....i took trileptal (along with valium - similar to your ativan - and dexedrine, not in your present cocktail) for what was at the time diagnosed as bipolar II/ADD/GAD/etc. i can report that trileptal (300 mg, twice each day) was a very ``clean'' medication from a side-effect standpoint and those in my immediate circle of friends/family noticed a stabilization of mood (from hypomanic to slight depression, at the time). you have probably read, heard, and experienced the pluses/minuses of effexor, and i will state that if it works for you, great; if not, be sure to slowly taper. the ativan should be used as directed, and will likely come in handy in the early segments of your treatment with the other meds.....trileptal will vary with the person, most likely, but it can be thought of (as a first approximation) to a cleaned-up version of tegretol, free of a metabolic route that would otherwise require liver enzyme monitoring, and demonstrating relatively few side effects in rather large post-marketing studies (i will be happy to provide you with some references, should you like). i do hope you get on the right track soon, and please do keep us informed of your progress. be well, and all the best, chemist
