> This is my first time here and I haven't gotten to read many posts, so sorry if this is repetitive...I've been on 120mg of adderall for 2 years every day and I just decided to quit...i'm on my 4th day...I feel terrible and I was wondering about how long this should last and anything I can do...I haven't been able to get out of bed the last 2 1/2 days...
Sorry to hear... the last time I took an amphetamine hiatus (years ago) I quite literally couldn't keep my eyes open more than 20 hours a day for about three weeks straight. That was after abrupt discontinuation of 30mg Adderall XR.
There's some research concerning the use of bupropion, amantadine and bromocriptine to ease the withdrawal symptoms caused by amphetamines, methylphenidate and cocaine. It also would be a good idea to buy some free-form powdered L-tyrosine at a health food store and take several grams daily, on an empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hours after eating) along with about 200mg vitamin B6, 1.2mg folic acid (B9) and a few thousand milligrams of cyanocobalamin or methylcobalamin (B12), preferably in sublingual form (TriVita makes a sublingual formulation that contains these exact ingredients, minus the tyrosine). Your dopamine stores are likely wiped out and L-tyrosine is a natural precursor to dopamine, phenylethylamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, thyroid hormones and enkephalins. The B vitamins help it along.
All the best,
~Michael
