Why these meds don't work

Posted by linkadge on August 5, 2004, at 17:34:36

reputake inhibitors are extremely blunt. SSRI's increase serotonin at all receptors.

There is perhaps, only one or two receptors that benefit from serotonin agonism. When other receptors recieve serotonin other devastating side effects can occur.

Agonism of the 5ht-2a receptor makes people very nervous and makes sleep broken and full of nightmares it is proposed that agonism at the 2a receptor can make people suicidal too, agonism of the 5-ht2c receptor causes sexual dysfunction and frontal cortex hypofunction/cognative problems. Agonism at the 5-ht3 receptor causes GI problems and and hippocampal kindling/panicky problems. As well it can make people antisocial.

Agonism at the 5-ht1b receptor causes cognative impariment.

I just cant do anything. If I take them I feel like crap, if I don't take them I feel like crap.
