Hello,
The first 2 to 3 weeks on Lexapro starting at 10mg for week 1 and 20mg for weeks 2 & 3, were horrible for me in that I was totally fatigued and just wanted to sleep. However, beginning in weeks 3 & 4, I started experiencing insomnia along with fatigue. It was quite discouraging because at this point, I was starting to get even more depressed because I felt so tired and on top of that I was unable to get any quality sleep.
Not to worry. After 45 days, that is a little over 6 weeks, my unipolar depression lifted dramatically and currently, nearly 2 months of taking Lexapro, I am as depression free as I have been in a very long time since I first started taking AD's over 13 years ago.
Please be patient and hopefully, like me, your depression will lift in 6 weeks or so. You pdoc may RX Ambien or Seroquel to help with the insomnia. However, I don't need to take any sleep meds to sleep now and am starting to feel more energized as the fatigue factor is beginning to subside. Good luck.

> ive started taking lexapro about a week and a half ago and ive had constant anxiety and for the first time depression. ive also had feelings of hoplessness and ideas that normalacy is a thing of the past. are these symptoms of my boydy getting use to the new medication or is it that my anxiety is just getting worse. i also stopped paxil abruptly and im wondering if that has a thing to do with it. any advice, comments, or stories from people that take or have taken lexapro will be appreciated more then u know. thanks for your time.
