What if AD's make your depression worse?

Posted by vogelbekdier on July 27, 2004, at 17:46:04

Hi, I really hope someone can help me...
I've been taking Effexor for two months, but it only increased my depression. Unfortunately, I also didn't feel better when I stopped taking it.
Now I'm on clomipramine, the first days were ok, but when I reached 100 mg, again I felt terribly depressed. One week 100 mg and now 3 weeks on 125 mg, still no improvement...

I know AD's can make depression/anxiety worse the first weeks, but what if you continue to feel more depressed? Is there any chance the clomipramine will start working miraculously in the next few weeks?
Does this mean that all/most AD's will have this effect on me?

(Oh, a few years ago I also took Paxil, but that didn't do a thing.
Also, other side-effects on every med I tried usually cause me little discomfort..)

Thanx!
