PROVIGIL = alertness with no need to sleep later?

I read in an article that Provigil had the strange characteristic of making someone stay awake and alert and that there seemed to be almost no need for them to make up later for any lost sleep.
This seems too weird to be true but the article was in a decent periodical (The Economist).
Does this faintly accord with anyone's experiences here of Provigil?
