Xanax XR - one daily dose enough?

My pdoc has me on 2mg of Xanax XR once daily. IS this enough to take in the morning and last me until bedtime?? Some have suggested 1mg tabs twice throughout the day, to space it out....but I feel that I need 2mg in me for it to be adequate. THanks
