In reply to provigil, modafinil, experiences please., posted by stann on July 15, 2004, at 22:52:29
I experienced a great deal of the sort of agitation you're describing when I first took Provigil. At the time, I was also taking Prozac, Xanax for sleep, and Strattera; then Zoloft and first desipramine, then Zoloft and Lamictal. (Xanax for sleep the entire time.) The agitation was terrible, and I attributed it to the only "stimulant" medication I was taking. I tried reducing it to 50 mgs, but no better. So, I stopped taking it...
[insert theme from "Jaws" here]
Within a couple of days, I had crashed. It was terrible. It felt as if every benefit I had been attributing to the other drugs was just gone. Then a bunch of other things happened, and I stopped taking all the drugs entirely.
A while later, in desperation, I started just the Provigil again, and miraculously the agitation wasn't there at all. In fact, the general anxiety I get as a side order with depression was reduced a great deal. Since starting the Provigil again, my doctor prescribed Prozac again -- and within the first day the overwhelming agitation was back, full blast.
What I guess I'm trying to say is that it may not be the Provigil itself causing this reaction, although it may be. I'd suggest talking to your doctor about it.
And other posters here have had good luck with Provigil by cutting the tablets into pieces - up to what was described by one into "slivers" of about 12.5 mgs. So, in the meantime, if you're an experimenter (as I tend to be), go ahead and try it.
Best luck to you.
