Currently, these are the only two presentations of bipolar disorder listed in the DSM. (Cyclothymia is sometimes considered to be a prodromal form of bipolar disorder). Bipolar III is a proposed category defined as predominantly depressed with mania expressed only in association with the use of drugs.
