Opiates put a strong damper on the intensity of both phyiscal pain and emotional pain. I think that kids have much higher endorphen levels, cause thats the first think I think of too when I pop some codiene - this is how I felt when I was a kid.

Its like you have a strong sheild around you and that none of life's curcumstances could ever break who you are. Opiates give a strong sence of self.

Got to watch the fact that you will adapt to that feeling, unfortunately.
