The worst that can happen....
It didn't bother me a bit when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I agreed with you. No worries at all. It's a cheap little pill, no side effects at the right dosage....
But that's the problem- getting the right dosage. My thyroid level was okay 2 and a half years ago, but my TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) was way off and the doctors couldn't seem to get it right. Still probably wouldn't have been a problem if I hadn't been pregnant with twins. They were stillborn at 5 months. A pregnancy complication called placental abruption, which has been linked to hypothyroidism. Can I say that's why my babies died? Of course not. But...there are all kinds of medical complications that one doesn't know about until it happens.
Just a warning for the women. If you get pregnant, please make your doctor keep a watch on your thyroid level and TSH.
Take care,
Caper
