> thanks, panda. my symptoms are (which can be mild, moderate or severe): irritability, sadness, reflect on past hurts too much, impatience, lack of energy, hopelessness, no motivation, lost interest in sex, negative outlook. most people i know think im a good person so i can "control" the above symptoms enough to appear "normal" but that might be making the symptoms even worse due to supression. with the lexapro, the sadness was totally gone and all the other symp. at first, but gradually they started coming back (except the sadness and hopelessness...i do have to acknowlege that being a single parent of two teenagers and working 9 hrs a day with mentally challenged (mostly retarded) kids certainly adds to my stress level!!! - although i love them all to pieces. my therapist suggested perhaps i have a mood disorder and i have a good psychiatrist but she's reluctant to switch meds, she thinks i should up the dose of lexapro (from 10mg to 20 eventually). i do realize a pill will not cure everything. it takes choosing to get better, eat better, exercise, talk therapy, learning to deal with stress better, etc. thanks again!!

>Sounds like you have plain old depression just like me. It's the best mental illness to have, if you have to have one. :) Are you under or over eating? Under or over sleeping? Drugs aren't the 100% cure we would wish them to be, but they help alot.
10mg of Lexapro is a low dosage, if you are happy with this medication then I would definately stay with it & increase the doseage. Prozac will likely have worse side effects & be not nearly as good. I'm not saying that Prozac is rubbish, just that the Lexapro is better.
