I always took Zoloft in the morning and don't recall it making me particularly sleepy. Effexor definitely did, though, for a few hours after taking it. Both drugs also gave me insomnia (the type where you wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep), so it seemed to make more sense to take them in the morning. Out of the 11 drugs from various classes that I've tried, I would put Zoloft in the "activating" category, but not as much so as the other SSRI I've tried, Prozac.
