Hi
I have RLS too...and it came on after I was on Prozac...trouble is the RLS stayed even after I stopped taking an SSRI and switched to Effexor. While on Prozac I had all the muscle jerks, twitches...all kinds of movement problems. I would wake myself up when muscle jerks actually pitched me onto the floor. I even broke my nose while sleeping when my knee jerked up and my head jerked down...(:...
Anyway...the RLS is 24/7 just like your relative's.
At night, I sometimes use a hand massager on my legs. It seems to calm them down a little, at least so I can get some sleep.
Other people say using warm compresses on the legs at night help relax them.
Many people get good results from taking a combination of one or more of the following; Magnesium, Calcium, Iron and Niacin. Also, a
study found that Vit E helped.
Finally, the medication Neurontin has been prescribed by many doctors and found to relieve symptoms in patients.
Caffeine, cigg smoking, alcohol and some OTC meds make RLS worse and should be avoided.
Hope that helps a little....(:...
