Hi to all,
I have myself weaned off from klonopin almost cold turkey without any problems. If you are curious about the dosage, mine was most of the times 3 mg a day. But I have seen many posts in this forum, people trying hard to get rid of their klonopin habit. Again there are even more posts, people finding it hard to stop their Effexor, Paxil or similar antidepressants intake.
So I have a question here for experienced guys. which meds are the worst in terms of withdrawal problems? Effexor? Paxil? or Klonopin like benzos?
Or simply how would you rate (Effexor-Paxil) withdrawal Vs (Klonopin-Xanax) withdrawal?First of all let me add my own contribution to this survey. I haven't tried Effexor or Paxil, but have tried a similar SSRI called Anafranil. For me anafranil was very hard to get off. Rebound depression and restlessness turned me to the edge where klonopin came as a blessing. Now after six years on klonopin I stopped it completely without any problems at all.
People wonder why there are not any detox centers for antidepressants yet many are there around for benzos. The reason I understand is, antidepressant withdrawals usually mimic the symptoms of severe anxious depression and is conveniently being treated in psychiatric clinics. It is easier for a doc to tell the patient, your original symptoms still remain, so that you can't get off Effexor or Paxil. I would have done the same and fallen in Anafranil trap if there was no klonopin to save me.
So seeing not detox centers for antidepressants don't make them clean as long as psychiatric clinics exist.
PLS
