In reply to PILOTS! Any pilots on AD's?, posted by MGOLDW on June 20, 2004, at 10:10:27

> Thanks.A few years ago, a close friend of mine was in flight school and had his pilot's license, and then made a doctor's appointment to ask for a prescription for Paxil (sadly & regretfully, at my encouragement, since i was on Paxil at the time and was being helped a great deal from it). He asked the doctor more than once if he/she was sure that the FAA would not revoke his license for being on an antidepressant. The doctor assured him that, no, they wouldn't. Nevertheless, a short while later his pilot's license was revoked, and he has since spent the past three years and hundreds of dollars worth of doctor's fees and other relevant appointments trying to get his medical back. So far, no such luck.
Moral of the story-- do NOT get prescribed any psychotropic agent or attempt to get diagnosed with any psychiatric disorder if you are a pilot, unless you are somehow absolutely positive that you can retain your license.
