In reply to Marplan - please compare with Nardil or Parnate, posted by don_bristol on June 7, 2004, at 7:11:36
How long did you take Nardil for and for what reason?
I've only taken Nardil. I take it for Social Phobia with associated depression. It has worked wonders!
I had many side effects, one of which was a 'very' foggy head, and sedation.
The side effects took a good 3 months to go, including the head fog, but it 'does' go. I still get sedation but I've learnt a way to manage it. I take 90mg. When I start to feel sedated, normally whilst doing something like reading or watching TV, this is normally the first indication of several days of it. So I reduce my dose to 75mg, or sometimes 60mg. This should be enough to get rid of all sedation. I stay on this dose for up to 5 days and then return to 90mg (5 days shouldn't reduce the effectiveness of the Nardil). Doing this seems to cut out most sedation for a good 2 weeks or more. Then I just repeat the process. Easy. And as a bonus, when returning to 90mg, I often have a return of the euphoria I had when the Nardil first kicked in! Enjoyable, but certainly NOT hypomanic.
I know we're all different, and that what works for one may not work for another. But Nardil really can work wonders if you give it a real good chance.
