Remeron and Effexor weight gain!!

Hi all,
I'm just curious to know if anyone has been able to lose weight while on remeron and effexor? I suffer from severe depression and anxiety and I have gained alot of weight while on these medications. The weight gain doesn't really help with the depression when I can't get my favourite jeans done up. I am a vegetarian so my diet is actually limited and I also don't drive so my only form of transportation is to walk. Why have I put on so much weight? If anyone has a suggestion for me I'd love to know.
