I think you are right that it was rejected and I have heard that the manufacturer was not going to re-apply for a US licence.

We have it here in the Uk and I have used it. Unlike you I found it very good but I got some unusual side effects and had to stop.

I had been trying SSRIs but it turns out I am probably not deficient in serotonin and Reboxetine helps the noradrenergic system. Maybe that's why it worked for me but not for you.
