How long to keep med before it becomes out of date

Hi, I was wondering how long you could keep the med Klonopin before it loses its potency or effectiveness. Or does Klonopin have an experation date. I was asking because I have a surplus of the med. Medication left over when I didn't use all of previous prescriptions. I now have a full bottle left over now, but I don't know whether it is any good or not and if it is ok to take them. The pills are about 4-5months old . I have one of those vaccum sealer products that you can seal food in. And I used it to seal the Klonopin prescription bottle in. I was wandering if this might help preserve the med?. Anyones comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
