In that respect, I suppose if you added a stimulant, it might come closer to an MAOI than most of the conventional SSRIs, but the same might be said of adding a stimulant to either imipramine or amitriptyline. Both of these blockade NE and 5HT reuptake at roughly the same order of magnitude. You could also make a case for adding a stimulant to Effexor to attempt to simulate an MAOI.
