In reply to Lexapro and diet pills??????, posted by Tnarc on May 19, 2004, at 7:45:35
I have been on Lexapro for about the same amount of time as you, and have not experienced any real weight changes. I have maintained the same workout schedule, I'm eating decently, and my base weight is bouncing around 5 lbs plus or minus from my "base weight".
I can't address the diet pill questions specifically, but my advice it to talk to your pdoc about it, and talk specifically about brands you are considering.
As far as the Montezuma's Revenge goes, try picking up an acidopholis suppliment at your local health food store. It will help a lot. Here's a link to the one I use. I have mentioned this to a friend of mine who is also taking Lexapro and was having that problem. Inside of 3 days after starting the acidopholis, the side effect stopped.

I'n not hawking a brand name, that's just the one I take and it explains what it does.
I have read that SSRI's increase your carb cravings. Are you eating cereals a lot? Are you eating 2 hours or less before bedtime? Have you decreased your water intake? I know what weight concerns feel like, I used to be around 250 lbs. It's was a long and hard road back to the 170's, and I can understand concern about weight gain, especially after having lost it.
Good luck with it, and again, ask your pdoc about the diet pills before you start, and also keep track of your eating habits. You might find a pattern or habit you were not aware of.
